Xbox controller 'Back' button doesn't work?

When i went to Orlando the other month for my holiday, I bought the Xbox silver limited edition controller (the one with the new sticks and differencing D-Pad) since it was cheaper in the states than over here (UK) so i got back opened it up and the back button doesn't work on it?? I tried it while the plug & play is connected but no luck :( any help?
